Huda Beauty has an eyeshadow palette called the Rose Gold Palette and today, I am going to be talking about and fully swatching it.
Huda Beauty Rose Gold Textured Palette Description/Review
The Huda Beauty Rose Gold Textured Palette contains 18 shades in 3 different finishes– 3D Metals, Chromatic Pressed Pearls and Saturated Mattes.
The 3D Metals are the shades you think of when you hear ‘Textured’ Shadows. They are somewhat unique but not really that innovative and there is shadows out there like them, like the ColourPop Super Shock Shadows. The 3D Metal Shades are kind of wet but are still powder, and do have high pigmentation. These shadows are best applied with your finger, but can be applied with a shimmer shadow brush, but they do work best with fingers. This really doesn’t worry me, I don’t wear long fake nails so they don’t get in the way and these shadows work really good on the lids and I like applying them with fingers to get that bright pop of colour. This might be a problem for people who wear fake nails constantly, but I’m sure you can work your way around this by using the flat side of your finger.
The Chromatic Pressed Pearls are typical satin/pearl shadows with a fancy name. Satin shadows are a mix between matte and shimmers, they are not completely matte but not completely metallic/shimmery either. These shadows work good.
The Saturated Mattes are another fancy name for matte shadows. They work really good, I was expecting the mattes to be really bad based on some things I had heard but I think they are really good and function perfectly. They are pigmented, blend out easily and obviously can be applied with a makeup brush perfectly (unlike the 3D Metals).
Each shade in the palette contains around 1 gram (0.03 ounces) of product, giving the palette a total of 18 grams (0.63 ounces) of product. The shadows are made in Italy and have a shelf life of 12 months.
Chemically in regards to the formula, there isn’t too much to talk about and I could do a full analysis but I am going to keep it short. All of the 6 3D Metal shades have the same formula and the 2 Chromatic Pressed Pearl shades each have slightly different formulas from each other. 9 out of 10 of the Saturated Mattes share the same formula with only 1 Saturated Matte (Black Truffle) having a slightly different formula than the other Saturated Mattes. This means there are 5 slightly different formulas in the whole palette, which isn’t anything abnormal but does mean that some of the shades are inconsistent (aka, not exactly the same). Physically, you can hardly tell though.
I should say, the ingredients in the shadows are not anything unique and they contain many of the same ingredients that eyeshadows by other brands do. So, as I said, the formula isn’t really as innovative as you would think when you read the names of the different textures. I think Huda makes up these fancy names to make the shadows seem more innovative and unique, but there really isn’t too much room for innovative formulas in the beauty game because companies use ingredients that are already approved for use and don’t need to go through testing (which is how companies manage to create products that don’t test on animals, the chemicals are already approved for use in cosmetics, and also how they get products out relatively quickly). I will say Huda tends to use this ‘unique’ thing in marketing for many of her products and this isn’t really the case at all. However, in marketing this type of exaggeration is expected because every brand thinks that their products are unique and do need to distinguish themselves from other brands in some way, but it’s just not always true.
I will be writing a full blog on this soon because there is just way to much to go through right now and it applies to many companies not just Huda, but basically, any new chemical that scientists create must be rigorously tested for safety, and since companies are opting out of animal testing to be cruelty free, the approval and testing process takes A LOTTTTTTTT longer because alternative testing methods are used which exclude animals and ultimately slow down the process. Again, more on this in a separate blog, but the point is, the shadows are not as unique as you may think by reading marketing and looking at Huda’s claim’s.
All in all, I really do love this palette and was SO surprised because I really didn’t think it would be so good based on some reviews I have seen. I am glad I didn’t listen to the bad review’s and tried it myself. The shadows are pigmented, work really good on the eyes and you can create sooo many looks because there are so many matte and shimmery shades to mix together to get so many unique and different looks. This makes it very versatile and you won’t need any other palette if you have this.
The Huda Beauty Rose Gold Palette costs $ AUD ($65.00 USD) and can be purchased from Huda Beauty Online or Cult Beauty. This palette constantly sells out and restock’s, so if you have been waiting to get it or if it’s out of stock, keep up with updates by following both Huda Beauty and Cult Beauty on Instagram. It is a highly sought over palette and tends to sell out very quickly when restocked.
Now, let’s get into the shades and swatches babes!!!
